It was a warm, almost hot morning with not even a single cloud interrupting the beautiful blue sky above. On the slopes I ran into Kanai-san from Misorano’s Yukizo-Tune, who greeted me saying, “I love your site. It’s already hot, isn’t it! The end of the season is the best time to get a tune-up, and we’re now offering a 20% OFF discount campaign!”
[Han-no-ki Slope]
Although it’s this late into the season, this year the Han-no-ki No. 3 Quad is still operating! TG PARKS is scheduled to remain on the Sawa Course until 4/17 (Sun.), before being moved to the area alongside the Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair Lift after 4/18 (Mon.). (※The large kicker seen in the background here is slated to be removed.) The Tsugaike Ropeway is operating on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays until 4/24 (Sun.), but will be open daily from 4/29 (Fri.) to 5/8 (Sun.).
[Tsuga-no-mori Slope]
During the morning hours, only the very top portion of the firmly-groomed granular-snow surface of the Tusga-no-mori Slope (pictured here and 2nd photo) was damp, and my skis slid wel across the snowl. Further down on the Han-no-ki Slope (4th photo), the groomed, granular-snow surface was noticeably slushier, and the further I skied down the thicker the loose, top layer became.

I caught up with a snowboarding couple from Hyogo Prefecture, who spoke with me and told me, “We’ve been out here enjoying Tsugaike since the day before yesterday. We’ve been taking runs on the banked slalom course built for the competition that was held parallel to the Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair.” I talked to another man from Tokyo who told me that he found out the banked slalom course was still open for use and quickly took a “sick day” from work to come out. In other news, this Sunday (4/17) is Kids Ski Free Day, where children elementary school-age and younger can receive a free 1-day lift pass.
