Tsugaike Kogen / ◎160cm / Snowy2019.Jan.16
It has been snowy since last night. Snowflakes were falling silently at the area along Hannoki High-speed Pair Lift as the trees on the sides blocked the wind. There was about 5 cm of fresh snow on the firm, soft, compacted slope and I enjoyed making turns.
[Hannoki Slope]
About 7 cm of fresh snow on the surface was blown by strong western wind at some parts of Tsuganomori Slope, which was nicely firm and compacted. About 30% area on the skier’s left side was non-compacted and covered with 25-30 cm of fresh snow. I saw many skiers/snowboarders going down there.
[Tsuga-no-mori Slope]
Fresh snow lied 15-20cm deep at the middle and last area of Hannoki Slope, which was non-compacted. The gentle ups and downs were a bit hard and I sometimes had a bottom feeling. However, it was soft overall and I enjoyed powder feeling. The wind blew gently and the visibility was poor at the middle area, while there was a thick fog at the last area.
[Hannoki Slope]
The strong wind and rain blew from the sides at the lower area of the slope. There was 5-6 cm of fresh snow on the firm Oyanohara Slope. I was able to ski down smoothly as the fresh snow was really loose and light.
