Iwatake / △55cm / Snowy2017.Jan.03
Unexpectedly, we had a heavy snow. The gentle north wind was drifting heavy snow and the area beside the mountain was enveloped in a thick fog, so it was still half-dark around 8:00 am. The amount of fresh snow was about 12 to 14 cm in the upper part, and 5 cm at the foot of the mountain.
[East]
There was 8 to 9cm of fresh snow on the East which was groomed well. The terrain was nicely farm and flat, and the fresh snow on the surface was soft, so it was in good condition. However, the visibility was so bad that many people skied down slowly with care.
[East]
The North area was covered with firmly groomed snow and 8~9cm of fresh snow on it. I skied down straightly from the starting area with no gradient and I could accelerate after I passed under the lifts.
[North]
I didn’t feel chilly so much, however, I saw rime on the trees around mountain top. The weather forecast said the weather would improve once, however, it would start to snow again early tomorrow morning. I hope as many courses as possible will open before the three-day weekend in January.
