Nakiyama No.3 Triple, Riesen Quad, and Skyline No.2 Pair were closed yesterday for this season. Four slopes: Usagidaira, Kurobishi, Grat and Panorama, will still open, and five lifts: Gondola, Alpen Quad, Kurobishi No.2 Quad, Grat Quad, and Panorama Pair, will be operated until May 6 (Wednesday, Public holiday).

The northwest wind brought wet snow in the upper area this morning. The groomed firm granular snow was covered with less than 5 cm of fresh snow in Panorama Course. I wasn’t stuck but I skied down carefully as there was no fresh snow here and there.

The wind sometimes caused blowing snow and whiteout conditions. Even lifts were suspended due to the strong wind. Firm granular snow was covered with 2~3 cm of fresh snow in Rindo Course (pictured), which bypasses Panorama Course. I saw some snowboarders going on the side and some beginners sliding down slowly.

“There’s plenty of snow in the upper area but the problem is that it’s too windy. It’s too bad.”, a patrolman said. By the way, the lounge for season passholders was relocated to Usagidaira Terrace today as Sun Terrace Panorama was closed yesterday on April 5 (Sun).

Hakuba Happo-one Snow Resort announced that the ski area will end the season on April 7 to ensure the health and safety of the guests, employees and community from coronavirus (COVID-19), due to an announcement of a state of emergency concerning the rapid spread of the new coronavirus infection made by the Japanese Government.
