17101902_happoOn the ridge of Northern Alps, the first snow fell on Oct. 6 (Fri) and it was covered with snow for the first time in this season on Oct. 16 (Mon). Finally, Riesen Grat, the upper part of Usagidaira and Kurobishi had the first snow today, Oct. 19 (Thu)!! The snow was falling from the early morning to 9:30 a.m. and there was 1 cm snow in Usagidaira and Kurobishi-daira (1,680m).

17101903_happoAfter that, the weather changed into drizzling and the snow got damp or melting. Around Happo-ike Sanso Hut (1,830m), the temperature was 4 degrees and the fresh snow was 2-3 cm deep. In the last year, the first snow fell to the ski area on Nov. 1 (Tue) (*Report in the last year), so 13 days earlier this year.

17101904_happoAccording to the weather forecast, it will be colder until the next week, so the second snow is expected. By the way, the trails are very slippy, so when you climb up to Happo-ike Pond or Mt. Karamatsu, please bring the mountain boots and heavy jackets.
