Happo-one / ×15cm / Snowy2016.Dec.06

16120601_happoThe cold wave is traveling in the Sea of Japan toward the north, and now, just before the pressure pattern changed into typical of Winter completely, is the very time of heavy snow in Hakuba. After the warm days until yesterday, it was raining with sleet in the mountain foot this morning. The rain becomes snow gradually in the upper parts and damp snow in upper Sakka area, big snowflakes in Usagidaira area were falling down.

16120602_happoUsagidaira was in the snow and thick fog with rolls of thunder. The amount of fresh snow was 15cm as of 8:30 a.m. and it was light and soft. The slopes were entirely covered with snow.

16120603_happoThe snow amount was different between the upper and lower part of Panorama Course because of the artificial snowing machines. The former had 30cm snowfall at maximum and the latter had about 6cm damp snow.

16120605_happoThe snow was falling silently still during I was in Usagidaira for a half hour. On the way to the mountain foot, I found 2cm fresh snow on Sakka area as well and the sleet had changed into snow in the base area already.
