16101301_happoOn Oct. 12 (Wed), the peaks of Ushiro Tateyama, such as Mt. Hakuba, had the first snow in this season. We could see the white ridges of mountains of Hakuba from the mountain foot in this morning. It was very cold, just 5 degrees, but the coming Winter season made me excited.

16101302_happoDuring climbing Mt. Karamatsu, the thick fog broke away near Ougi-no-setsuden and the beautiful Winter view jumped into my sight. The snowfall was about 3cm and trekkers looked to be happy to see the first snow. We needed to wear heavy clothing of course, but it did not blow a wind.

16101303_happoI climbed up to the upper part, feeling signs of Winter. The all trails toward Mt. Karamatsu were covered with thin snow, but it started to melt soon because of the sunlight and terrestrial heat.

16101304_happoThe temperature around Mt. Karamatsu Chojo Sanso Hut was just 1 degree at 9:20 a.m. There was 5-centimeter snowfall. The ridges from Mt. Hakuba to Mt. Kashimayarigatake were covered with snow but Mt. Tateyama were still not. By the way, it is expected that La Niña will bring good snow to Japan in this Winter.
