In Highway Course, I could hear people excited with the fluffy fresh snow with the depth of 70cm on the off-piste areas (Photo) and 40cm on the groomed part. A man from Hikone City in Shiga Prefecture said, “I always check your reports! I am so surprised at this good snow, but it is hard to get off from it…. By the way, my home town also has 70cm deep snow as well.”

Although the snow let up before the opening time, it started to snow heavily again from 8:30 a.m. The instructors of Hakuba Norikura Ski School said, “We always enjoy your reports! We are looking forward to seeing your reports this season as well. We will have an event named as 2022 Hakunori Special Demo Camp from Jan. 8 (Sat) to Jan 9 (Sun). Let’s join us!”

There was 20cm fresh snow on the nicely firm groomed slope of Wakaguri Chuo Area (Photo). The thick fog and snow sometimes blocked our sight. In Wakaguri Rinkan Course, the groomed slope was nicely firm and covered with 15cm fresh snow. The visibility was good there and beginners and families enjoyed riding at their pace.

People who were taking the lesson of Tanaka Shohei New Year 1 Day Demo Camp gave me the greeting, “We always enjoy your reports!” and skied down Rabbit Course (Photo) where had 40cm of fresh snow on its groomed slope smoothly. Each slope was crowded with people in this New Year Season, but we did not need to wait for lifts.
