It has been hot these days at the foot, but the temperature at Visitor Center was +18°C and it was cool. I could climb comfortably because the trail was shaded and weak wind blew until right before Tenguppara. After that, the sunshine was strong without tall trees, and I started to sweat heavily.

The wind was not blowing at the east face of Mt. Hakuba Norikura and it was very hot, so I drink water often to stay hydrated. The snow, that remained in previous report on July 14, was almost melted and I walked on snow for only about 10 meters. The forecast of weekend was fine so, there were many mountaineers with big backpacks.

After the snow was melted, there many big rocks so it took time to climb than I was expected. But the staff of the ropeway said, “Some hiker slipped and hit the rock, so please climb slowly.” So, I climbed carefully.

The cool wind started to blow from near the summit of Mt. Hakuba Norikura. Two ladies from Kanagawa Pref. said, “We will stay in Hakuba Oike Sanso today and climb to Mt. Hakuba tomorrow.”

Water surface of Hakuba Oike was wavy because of the wind but the contrast of blue sky, white clouds, green creeping pines and blue water were so beautiful. Many people stopped and were taking pictures of Mt. Korenge (2766m) and Hakuba Oike.
