We had a cold morning because of the radiative cooling. Since Oct. 19 (Thu), the autumnal rain front and the typhoon made the weather very unstable, however today, the blue sky spread out. When I looked back from the trail, I could see the sea of clouds in the east.

After Oct. 19 (Thu), it snowed in the upper part of mountains twice on Oct. 24 and 25. There was still snow remaining over Shajii Cairn (1,974m). I got to walk on the snow from Cairn No.2 (2,005m). The snow covered around Happo-ike as well and the contrast of snow-capped ridges of Kaerazu-no-ken and the blue sky was very impressive.

The surface of Happo-ike was wavy a little, but it reflected white Northern Alps as well. I did not feel cold during trekking, thanks to the warm sunlight. It was quiet around here at 9:00 a.m. but people started to come in 30 minutes.

I climbed up to Mt. Karamatsu (2,696m) with an expectation for the white wintry view. In the upper part from Happo-ike Pond, the trails were covered with the snow, so I followed the traices.

The amount of snow in the trails toward Maruyama Cairn (2,430m) was much more than I thought and sometimes, the depth reached my shins. We needed shoe covers and crampons. By the way, Happo Alpen Line wll be open until Oct. 29 (Sun).
