Nozawa Onsen / ○90cm / Cloudy & Sunny2021.Dec.21
Yamabiko area received about 80 cm of fresh snow from Dec.17 (Sat) evening to Dec.18 (Sat). Most (=more than half) of the courses are now open with the lower Schneider, Challenge, and Utopia A opening on Dec.19 (Sat). It was beautiful, calm this morning.

Granular snow was groomed on Uenotaira Slope (pictured in the first photo) and on Paradise Slope (pictured). It was very nice with my ski edges gripping the snow well. The 3.2 km-long slopes were magnificent.

“I’ve seen your posts. I’m coming with my sisters and friends from Australia.”, a female snowboarder (pictured on the right back) said. She told me that her father works for Australian Embassy and she often visits Nozawa.

Snow was groomed in the top and middle area of the steep Schnider Course, while the snow was ungroomed in the bottom area. (I didn’t mind but there were some bushes.) The snow was firm in the upper area and wet in the lower area. It was hard to ski down the Utopia A Course covered with the ungroomed rough snow.
