Goryu &47 / ◎290cm / Snowy2019.Feb.12
It was snowing with the wind blowing when I got off Goryu Tele-cabin. Fog sometimes hung over and sometimes cleared at Alps Daira. Trees at the middle and upper area were covered with rime, which gave a dream-like atmosphere with the fog.
[Panorama Course]
15-20 cm of fresh snow lied on the non-compacted area along Alps No.3 Pair and Technical Course. It was a bit packed by wind but there were almost no ups and downs. My skis were not stuck and I enjoyed the soft feeling of the snow. I also enjoyed making turns as I liked on both Panorama and Grand Prix Course, where powder snow was well-compacted.
[Grand Prix Course]
My visibility got clear as I reached Dynamic Course. I enjoyed gaining speeds on the firm flat slope with 1-2 cm of fresh snow. Big hard moguls were covered with about 3 cm of fresh snow on Expert Course (as shown in the photo), which were difficult to go down.
[Champion Expert Course]
“The firm compacted snow + 1-2 cm of fresh snow” was great on Toomi and Iimori Slope as well as on Dynamic Course. My ski edges cut into the snow well. Advanced skiers/snowboarders looked cool, making sharp turns on Powder Snow Course and Straight Whiskey Course.
[Soft Cream Course]
