Hakuba Iwatake / △100cm / Cloudy2020.Mar.04

20030401_iwatakeSKYARK DECK CAFE opened this season is an outdoor facility that can be used for lunch. A popular menu is “hot dock + apple juice” (JPY1,000), and there is also a combination with roast beef sand at the same price. You can also taste craft beer such as Hakuba original beer from T.Y.HARBOR and glacier beer from Northern Alps Brewery.

20030402_iwatakeAt the beginning of VIEW D, the snow condition was good enough that the snow was properly tightened and the board would run well on gentle slopes. On the steep slope in the middle (pictured), the snow shaved off the edge was soft on the compacted snow surface, making it easy to turn. At the end of the non-compacting snow, bush and soil were scattered.

[VIEW D]

20030403_iwatakeIn the DC PARK, which is mainly crowded with snowboarders, there were elementary school students who mixed items with adults. The compacted snow burn is a slippery condition in which the snow is moderately loose. Because there was no sunlight, I felt less slippery than expected.

[North slope]

20030404_iwatakeThe board ran well on the South slope which is moderately loose condensed snow. From the beginning to the middle of the season, the snow was melting and the exposure of the soil was noticeable, but so far there was no problem with the slip. We recommend gondola descent for those who value boards, as soil and bush can be seen throughout the Sunny Valley course.
