Hakuba Iwatake / △100cm / Snowy2020.Feb.23

20022301_iwatakeWe were blessed with snow, however, it was too much. Gondola and Chuo high-speed lifts were suspended in the morning due to the strong wind blowing at the top. The wind gradually calmed down, however, it sometimes got intense again. It sometimes got foggy, too. My skis hit the hard-packed granular snow under the 8 cm of soft fresh snow when I made turns in South Slope.
[South Slope]
20022302_iwatakeThe compacted snow was soft covered with fresh snow on the upper steep slope of Sawa Course. Meanwhile, the snow was hard covered with a thin layer of fresh snow in the middle and lower parts. The slope was smooth overall. I saw some skiers/snowboarders carving fast, while some going in the 10 cm of fresh snow on the side of the course.
[Sawa Course]
20022303_iwatakeThe compacted snow was moderately soft in East Slope, which is 330m long. I saw many skiers having practice there. It kept snowing and the north wind kept blowing, however, it was not very chilly today.
[East Slope]
20022304_iwatakeNorth Slope was in good condition like East Slope. Each item was crowded with intermediate and advanced-level skiers/snowboarders. By the way, “DC games 2020 2nd round” is held in DC PARK between February 22 (Sat) and March 1 (Sun). You have a chance to win a prize if you follow an official Instagram account and post photos/videos using a specific hashtag.
