Goryu & 47 / ◎340cm / Cloudy/Rainy2022.Mar.26

22032601_goryu47The sunrise skiing that has taken place at 7:00 this season on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays on the Toomi Slope is down to its final two days today and tomorrow. Night skiing is also set to end tomorrow as well. This morning the lights were on for sunrise skiing (pictured), but it was already light enough to see thanks to the lengthening spring days. (※The bare earth visible on the Expert Course is a result of the full-thickness avalanche that occurred on Monday, 3/14.)

22032602_goryu47Warm, early morning winds were blowing extremely hard across Alps-Daira, making it hard to stand and forcing the closure of the Alps No. 1 to No. 4 Pair Lifts. The top layers of the firmly-groomed granular snow surfaces at the bottom of the Grand Prix Course, and on the Super and Dynamic Course (pictured) were loosening slightly and made for smooth and easy skiing conditions..

22032603_goryu47Skiing down from the middle of the Dynamic Course I found the loose top layer of snow getting thicker and thicker, and by the top of the Toomi Slope (pictured) it was full-on spring conditions. I was greeted by a group of 7 skiers from Aichi Prefecture’s Nagoya City, who told me they love our site. Just seconds before this photo, a strong gust of wind from the forested area to the left carried a large amount of leaves across the Toomi Slope.

22032604_goryu47It was a typical, busy start to the weekend, but the Merry Land Course (pictured), which is scheduled to remain open until 3/28 (Mon.), was the lone, empty exception. The groomed surface was soft and easy to ski. A father from Ishikawa Prefecture (pictured) called out to me saying, “I love your site. I often check your reports to decide which days to ski and which resorts to choose.”
